Mercedes-Benz 190, korimalliltaan W201 (1984–1993), on ensimmäinen ns. "pikkumersu" (Pohjois-Amerikassa Baby-Benz)


Frankfurtin autonäyttelyssä vuonna 1983 esiteltiin mallistoon ensimmäinen, urheilullinen 190 Cosworth. 2.3-16-mallissa käytetty rivinelonen oli Mercedeksen urheilullisissa autoissa nähdyistä moottoreista ensimmäinen laatuaan. Moottori (M102) oli suunniteltu yhteistyössä brittiläisen Cosworthin kanssa. 136 kilowattinen moottori kiihdytti auton 0-100 km/h:een 7,5 sekunnissa ja huippunopeus oli 235 km/h. Moottorin jatkona oli sopivasti välitetty Getrag viisiportainen manuaalivaihteisto. Vakiovarustukseen kuului myös automaattisesti säätyvä takajousitus. Korin muodot oli suurine etu- ja takahelmoineen muutettu vastaamaan suorituskykyä ja takaluukun päällä oli pieni spoileri.
