Kauniisti entisöity ja poikkeuksellisen viehättävä vuoden 1963 Volvo Amazon Farmari, jonka mielenkiintoinen historia ulottuu Yhdysvalloista Suomeen. Auto on entisöity kiinnittäen erityistä huomiota alkuperäisyyteen ja aikakauden mukaisiin yksityiskohtiin.

Auto on ”syntynyt” 29. toukokuuta 1963, ja se vietiin alun perin Yhdysvaltoihin. Vuonna 1967 suomalainen perhe osti auton San Franciscosta. Perhe palasi Suomeen vuonna 1970 ja toi Volvon mukanaan. Autoa käytettiin Suomessa aina vuoteen 1982 asti.

Entisöinti toteutettiin useiden vuosien aikana. Alkuvaiheessa ruostuneet etupyörien sisälokasuojat vaihdettiin toisesta Amazonista peräisin oleviin korjauspaneeleihin, ja etulattia korjattiin.

Mahdollisuuksien mukaan uudet peltiosat asennettiin alkuperäisten pistehitsauskohtien mukaisesti, ja muut hitsaussaumat viimeisteltiin huolellisesti tinalla. Kun kaikki hitsaustyöt oli saatu päätökseen, koko auto soodapuhallettiin.

Kori käsiteltiin tämän jälkeen epoksipohjamaalilla, minkä jälkeen auto maalattiin ammattimaisesti ulkopuolelta.

Erityistä huomiota kiinnitettiin siihen, että vaihto-osat olivat vuoden 1963 mallivuoden mukaisia. Lopputuloksena on auto, joka säilyttää varhaisen Amazonin alkuperäisen luonteen ja ulkonäön, mutta hyötyy samalla perusteellisesti tehdystä entisöinnistä.

Auto palasi liikenteeseen vuonna 2014 oltuaan noin 22 vuotta pois liikenteestä. Se tarkastettiin ja hyväksyttiin museorekisteriin vuonna 2015.

Fully Restored Swedish Classic

A beautifully restored and exceptionally charming 1963 Volvo Amazon Estate, with an interesting history stretching from the USA to Finland and a restoration carried out with great attention to originality and period correctness.

The car was “born” on May 29, 1963, and was originally exported to the United States. In 1967, a Finnish family purchased the car in San Francisco. They returned to Finland in 1970 and brought the Volvo with them, subsequently using it until 1982.

The restoration was undertaken over a number of years. During the initial work, the rusty inner front wheel arches were replaced using panels from another Amazon, and the front floor was repaired. Where possible, replacement sheet metal was installed at the original spot-weld locations, while other weld seams were carefully finished with tin. Once all welding was completed, the entire car was soda blasted. The body was then epoxy primed, followed by professional exterior painting.

Considerable care was taken to ensure that replacement parts were correct for the 1963 model year. The result is a car that retains the character and appearance of an early Amazon while benefiting from a comprehensive restoration.

The car returned to the road in 2014, after approximately 22 years off the road. It was museum inspected and registered in 2015.
