Tehokkaampi suorasuihkutusmoottori, nopea PDK-kaksoiskytkinvaihteisto, parannettu moottoritekniikka, ei IMS-laakeriongelmaa, takavalot ja huomiovalot LED-tekniikalla - mm. nämä erottavat 997.2:n edeltävästä 997.1:stä. 997.2:ta pidetään viimeisenä autenttisen analogisen ajokokemuksen tarjoavana 911:na. Malliversiota 997.2 valmistettiin vuosina 2009-2011. Harvinaisena, hyvin onnistuneena ja luotettavana malliversiona se on erittäin haluttu niin Suomessa kuin mm. Saksassa, mistä kertovat Saksan hinnat, jotka lähenevät Suomen hintoja.
