Jaguar esitteli maaliskuussa 1961 Geneven autonäyttelyssä urheiluauton, joka muutti automaailmaa pysyvästi. Uusi E-Type (Yhdysvalloissa XK-E) perustui Jaguar D-Type -kilpa-autoon, joka oli voittanut Le Mansin kolmena vuonna peräkkäin 1955-1957. Edistyksellinen auto oli rakennettu itsekantavalle korille ja moottorin apurungolle, jonka ansiosta se painoi ainoastaan hieman yli 1300 kiloa. Moderni urheiluauto oli varustettu levyjarruin ja erillisjousituksella. Katuliikenteeseen suunniteltu Jaguar E-type oli seuraaja Jaguar XK 150:lle, jonka kilpa-autoversio C-Type oli niin ikään myös menestynyt Le Mansissa.

Autosta tuli välitön menestys ja vuosituotanto oli hetkessä täyttynyt tilauskirjoilla. Enzo Ferrari tituleerasi E-Typen maailman kauneimmaksi autoksi ja autoa valmistettiin kolmen mallisarjan ajan vuoteen 1974 saakka.

Tämä kyseinen auto on loppupään 1. sarjan Roadster -eli avomalli. Loppupään autoista puhutaan 1.25 & 1.5 -sarjalaisina. Auto on valmistunut 20.03.1967. Huhtikuun 11. päivä auto on toimitettu ensimmäiselle omistajalle, New Yorkin viralliselta Jaguar -kauppiaalta.

E-Typen osti Suomeen Floridasta R. Kaunisto, joka museorekisteröi auton Suomeen vuonna 2000. Nykyiselle omistajalle A.M.Lyytiselle auto päätyi 24 vuotta sitten marraskuussa 2001.

A.M Lyytinen käytti autoa kesäisin säännöllisesti vuoteen 2020 saakka, jolloin hän vei auton pieniä huolto- ja korjaustoimia varten Britti-klassikoihin erikoistuneeseen korjaamoon Grips Garageen. Sekä korissa, että auton tekniikassa oli kuitenkin useita huomiota vaativia kohtia ja Lyytinen päätti, että auto entisöidään perusteellisesti.

Auto purettiin täysin. Kori hiekkapuhallettiin peltipaljaaksi ja ruostevauriot korjattiin. Eturunko uusittiin. Kori maalattiin ympäriinsä tasokkaasti auton alkuperäiseen Primrose Yellow -sävyyn. Entisöinnin yhteydessä pyrittiin säilyttämään mahdollisimman paljon alkuperäisiä korin kromiosia, kuten puskureita ja listoja.

Auton alustan kuluvat osat, kuten jousituksen ja ohjauksen osat uusittiin. Pakoputkisto uusittiin kokonaisuudessaan. Jaguarin – 4.2 -litrainen kutosmoottori kunnostettiin täysin uusilla osilla, kuten myös nelivaihteinen manuaalivaihteisto ja akselistot. Sylinterinkansi on yhä Matching Numbers, moottorin lohko on aikanaan uusittu.

Entisöinnin yhteydessä verhoilun matot uusittiin, aikaisemmin uusitut istuin- ja oviverhoilut kunnostettiin. Grips Garagen verhoilija asensi uuden mohair -mustan pehmeän katon.

Autolla on Jaguarin Trust heritage certificate ja se on Classic Datan tarkastama. Myös entisöinti on hyvin dokumentoitu ja valokuvattu.

Auton entisöinti on vaikuttavan tasokas ja kestää vaativan asiantuntijan tarkastelun. Moottori kehrää tasaisesti ja se on hienosti säädetty, herkkä ja voimakas. Auton ohjaus on tarkka ja voimansiirto toimii moitteettomasti. Upea ajaa.

Auto myydään juuri katsastettuna ja valmiina nautittavaksi.

In March 1961, Jaguar presented a sports car at the Geneva Motor Show, which changed the automotive world forever. The new E-Type (XK-E in the US) was based on the Jaguar D-Type racing car that had won Le Mans three years consecutively from 1955 to 1957. The advanced sports car grand tourer was built on a monocoque body and an engine subframe, thanks to which it only weighed a little over 1300 kilograms. The modern sports car was equipped with disc brakes and independent front and rear suspension. Designed for street use, the Jaguar E-type was the successor to the Jaguar XK 150, whose racing car version, the C-Type, was also succeed at Le Mans.

The car became an immediate success and the annual production was filled with order books in no time. Enzo Ferrari titled the E-Type the most beautiful car in the world and the car was produced for three model series until 1974.

This car in question is a late 1 series Roadster, referred often to as 1.25 & 1.5 series. The car was manufactured 20.03. 1967. In 11.04.1967 was delivered to the first owner, from the official Jaguar dealer of New York.

The E-Type was brought to Finland from Florida in the late 1990’s by R. Kaunisto, who registered the car as a historic vehicle in Finland in 2000.

The E-Type was bought by the current owner A.M.Lyytinen 24 years ago in November 2001.

A.M. Lyytinen used the car every summer until 2020, when he took the car to Grips Garage, a workshop specializing in British classics, for minor maintenance and repairs. However, there were several points that required attention in both the body and mechanically, and Lyytinen decided that the car would be thoroughly restored.

The car was completely dismantled to parts. The body was sandblasted to bare sheet metal and the rust damages were repaired. The front frame was renewed. The body was painted all around in the original Primrose Yellow shade. During the restoration, efforts were made to preserve as many of the original chrome parts of the body as possible.

The wearing parts of the car's chassis, such as the suspension and steering parts, were renewed. The exhaust system was completely renewed. The 4.2-liter inline six engine with three SU carburettors was completely restored with new parts, as were the four-speed manual transmission and axles. Cylinder head is still matching numbers, block has been renewed in some point.

During the restoration, the upholstery carpets were renewed, and the previously renewed seat and door upholstery were restored. The upholsterer from Grips Garage installed a new mohair black soft top.

The car has a Jaguar Trust heritage certificate and it is inspected by Classic Data. The restoration is also well documented and photographed.

The car's restoration is of an impressive standard and will withstand the scrutiny of a demanding expert. The engine revs smoothly and is finely tuned, sensitive and powerful. The car's steering is precise and the transmission works flawlessly. Great to drive.

Will be sold with Fresh Mot/Tüv inspection made. Superb, restored E-Type ready to be enjoyed.
