Sir William Lyonsin johdolla Iso-Britannian Coventryssa syntyi 50-luvun lopulla vallankumouksellinen auto: Jaguar MKII. Auto oli edistyksellinen, siinä oli itsekantava kori ja levyjarrut. Erityistä huomiota oli kiinnitetty auton äänettömyyteen, tärinöiden vaimennukseen ja mukavan, mutta urheilullisen kyydin mahdollistavaan alustaan: ”Grace, Space, Pace”.

Lopputuloksena syntyi ylellinen ja urheilullinen ison keskiluokan sedan. Edustusauto, jollaisia pankkirosvot varastivat pakoautoiksi ja kyvykäs neliovinen kilpa-auto jollaisesta saksalaiset kilpailijat kuten BMW ja Mercedes saattoivat tuolloin ainoastaan haaveilla.

Viimeiset MKII -sukupolven autot tunnettiin nimellä 240 ja 340 iskutilavuuteen viitaten. Tehoa otettiin aikaisempaa enemmän käyttämällä samaa sylinterinkantta kuin E-Typessä, jolloin huipputehoksi saatiin 213 hevosvoimaa. Ulkoiset erot aikaisempiin MKII:siin löytyvät lähinnä pelkistetyimmistä puskureista.

Tämän vuosimallin 1968 Opalescent Silver Greyn Jaguar MKII 340:n on hankittu nykyiseen omistajaperheeseen hääautoksi vuonna 1994. Auto on viimeisiä MKII saloon -mallisarjan Jaguareja, eli MKII 340 tehokkaammalla 3.4 -litran moottorilla ja 4-vaihteisella manuaalivaihteistolla.

Jaguarin kori on uudelleen maalattu 1990-luvulla nykyiseen sävyyn. Autolla on viimeisen 32 vuoden aikana ajettu satunnaisesti kesäisin ja sitä on säilytetty lämpimissä tiloissa. Jaguariin tehtiin keväällä 2026 perusteellinen huolto, jossa polttoainelinjat ja kaasuttimet puhdistettiin, moottoriöljyt ja suodatin uusittiin ja venttiilit säädettiin. Kytkimen työsylinteri uusittiin.

MKII 340 on rekisteröity museoajoneuvoksi. Auto myydään vasta katsastettuna.

Led by Sir William Lyons, a revolutionary car was born in Coventry, UK in the late 1950s: the Jaguar MKII. The car was advanced, with a unibody and disc brakes. Particular attention had been paid to the car's silence, vibration damping and a comfortable but sporty suspension. As the Jaguars motto, launched first time with MKII said: “Grace, Space, Pace”.

The end result was a luxurious and sporty large mid-size sedan. A representative car the kind of bank robbers stole as an escape car. And a capable four-door sport saloon that succeeded also as a racing car the kind that German competitors like BMW and Mercedes could only dream of at the time.

The last MKII generation cars were known as the 240 and 340, referring to their engine displacement. More power with 3.4 -litre engines was obtained than before by using the same cylinder head as in the E-Type, resulting in a peak power of 213 horsepower. External differences from the previous MKIIs can be found mainly in the more simplified bumpers and rear section.

This 1968 Opalescent Silver Grey Jaguar MKII 340 was acquired by the current owner family as a wedding car in 1994. The car is one of the last Jaguars of the MKII saloon model series, the MKII 340 with the more powerful 3.4-liter engine and 4-speed manual transmission.

The Jaguar's body was repainted in the 1990s with the current color. The car has been driven occasionally in the summertime for the past 32 years and has been stored in warm premises. The Jaguar underwent a thorough maintenance in the spring of 2026, where the fuel lines and carburetors were cleaned, the engine oil and filter were renewed, and the engine valves were adjusted. The clutch slave cylinder was also renewed.

The MKII 340 is registered as a historic vehicle. The car will be sold with fresh Mot/Tüv inspection made.
