BMW 850 i on kasaricoupe V12- moottorilla ja luukkulampuilla. Aikanaan malliston lippulaiva on nykyään vauhdissa kohti klassikkostatusta. E31- sukupolven 8-sarjan mallistoa valmistettiin yhteensä vain noin 30 000 kappaletta. Mallistossa oli myös kahdeksan sylenterisiä moottoreitta, mutta V12 oli todellinen lippulaiva. BMW 850 i oli aikanaan hyvin erityinen auto. BMW 850i tarkoittaa viisi litraista V12-moottoria, jonka 300 hevosvoiman huipputeho välitetään takapyörille nelivaihteisen automaattivaihteiston kautta. Sähköisesti säädettävät ja lämmityksellä varustetut sportti jakkarat ovat jokseenkin harvinainen lisävaruste E31- mallisukupolven 8- sarjan tapauksessa ja tästä autosta ne löytyy.
